Terms of use

Digital Consulting, Inc. operates dcicyber.com. These terms apply to your access to and use of this website. They do not govern consulting services and they create no client relationship.

About this website

These pages carry general information about Digital Consulting, Inc., the security services we offer, and the record behind them. Visiting the site or writing to us creates no professional, advisory, fiduciary, or client relationship.

A consulting engagement is covered by a signed consulting services agreement and, where the work calls for one, a statement of work. Where these terms conflict with a signed agreement, the signed agreement controls for the services it covers.

Accuracy and reliance

We keep these pages up to date and correct errors as we find them. We do not guarantee that everything here is complete, current, or applicable to your circumstances.

Nothing on this website is legal, compliance, security, financial, or other professional advice. Requirements vary by organization, system, industry, and jurisdiction, and auditors, regulators, and customers read the same requirement differently from one another.

Before you rely on anything here for a decision that matters, ask us how it applies to your situation.

Information you send us

Please hold back confidential, regulated, or security-sensitive information until we have agreed on a way to receive it. That includes passwords, access credentials, personal information, and details of security vulnerabilities.

Email is the wrong channel for credentials or vulnerability detail. If something of that kind needs to change hands while we are discussing an engagement, tell us first, and we will put a confidentiality agreement and a suitable channel in place.

Website content and trademarks

The text, design, source code, graphics, company name, and logo on this website belong to Digital Consulting, Inc. The IBM Plex and Literata typefaces are used under the SIL Open Font License 1.1, and a copy of that license ships with the font files.

Acceptable use

This website has no user accounts and no authenticated services.

Do not attempt to disrupt, damage, compromise, or gain unauthorized access to the website or the hosting behind it. Automated access must not interfere with the site's operation or its availability.

Ordinary indexing and crawling that follow our robots.txt are welcome. We restrict or block automated activity that puts an unreasonable load on the site or ignores those instructions.

Reporting a security issue

If you believe you have found a security vulnerability affecting this website, use the address in our security.txt. The OpenPGP public key is published there too.

There is no public bug bounty program here, and we offer no payment or other compensation for a vulnerability report unless that is agreed in writing beforehand.

Third-party websites

The blog at dcicyber.com/blog runs on WordPress and may collect or process information differently from the rest of this website. Our privacy notice explains the difference.

Some pages link out to websites other organizations operate. Digital Consulting, Inc. does not control those websites and is not responsible for their content, availability, security, or privacy practices. Your use of one of them is governed by its own terms and policies.

Disclaimers and limitation of liability

This website is provided "as is" and "as available". To the fullest extent permitted by law, Digital Consulting, Inc. disclaims all express and implied warranties relating to the website, including warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, non-infringement, accuracy, availability, and freedom from harmful code.

To the fullest extent permitted by law, Digital Consulting, Inc. is not liable for any loss or damage arising from your access to, use of, inability to use, or reliance on this website or its content.

Those limits stop where the law says they must. Under California law that includes liability for fraud, for willful injury, and for violation of law. Liability for services performed under a signed agreement is governed by that agreement.

Severability

If a provision of these terms is found unenforceable, it is limited or modified only as far as is needed to make it enforceable, and the remaining provisions stay in effect.

Changes to these terms

We may revise these terms. The effective date below identifies the current version, and we keep no public archive of earlier ones.

Governing law

These terms and any dispute relating to this website are governed by the laws of the State of California, without regard to its conflict-of-law principles. Digital Consulting, Inc. is incorporated there.
